The Alphonso variety is one of the most prized varieties among dozens of others. Small in size, highly concentrated in sugar and pigments, it is perfectly flavoured, fleshy and non-fibrous. The Indian soil guarantees excellent fruit quality thanks to a soil that is both acidic and very rocky. Ponthier buys its mangoes from small producers who have been working the mango tree for many years and harvest the fruit by hand. The trees are treated naturally with natural organic or mineral fertilisers sprayed directly onto the foliage.
